Women in I.T Mentorship Program

About the Program

This program was started because of two needs: the lack of mentors and the lack of female role models in the technology field. Our aim is to provide the young girls with role models, teach them the skills they will need, encourage them, and show them that tech careers will help change the world for the better.

Program HIghlights

  • Started on International Girls in ICT day April 26th 2018
  • 31 girls ( High School and University students)
  • 1-1 Mentor-Mentee matching with Professional Women in various IT
    careers
  • Monthly Themed Meetups
  • Quarterly Technology Workshops
  • Strengths Empowerment workshop using Gallup StrengthsFinder with
    certified Coach Lianne McNaughton
  • Select few will go the Grace Hopper Women in Computing
    Conference in Houston, Texas in September
  • Ends on International Women Day March 8th 2019

Key Objectives

  • To provide professional role models
  • To provide tangible exposure to the mentees to various IT
    careers and professions
  • To create a community and network of women in IT
  • To empower the participants to understand and know what
    their innate talents and strengths are, how to apply it to
    execute, strategize, influence and work with others
  • To provide opportunities for the mentees to learn, grow and
    recognize the opportunities and challenges in the information
    – communication technology
